Chapter 4 - Faith or Not Faith

If faith speaks what if believes and the believer believes the Word of God, the God-Kind of Faith is the kind that speaks the Word of God. This side the kind of faith that Jesus commanded you and I as a believer to have. What I want you to see is that on one end of the rope is the God-Kind of Faith. (see Mark 11:22-24), and on the other side of the rope is another “brand of faith” called fear.

In the same way faith is not an emotion, neither is fear. It is the same spiritual force. The faith life is a life that does not believe what it senses are saying, but it believes what the Word of God says regardless of what it looks or smells like.

That is why the assault on your senses is so great. That is why in order to walk by faith, there are some things that you cannot hear or listen to, some people you cannot hang out with, some movies you should not see. It is not because seeing the movie is a sin, but because that particular movie may affect your faith.

Fear is faith (conviction or persuasion plus corresponding action) in the wrong set of realities. IT is faith in your experience: You have been in this place before and you know how it turned out so you believe that it will turn out like that again. Therefore, you speak how it turned out before, and God calls that fear.

Fear is faith in your negative reinforcement. For example, your mom and your grandma had the very same condition the doctor says it si now afflicting you, and because they died from it, you believe it. You believe based on the previous experiences of someone else and you do not even know why you believe it. Most of the time, you do not even realize that you believe it, but you know that you believe it because you have been speaking it. Fear is faith in your opinion.

It is impossible to walk by faith without information – so you received the information from somewhere. You must understand that you have been receiving information from the time you were born. It is fallen and unredeemed information. God is trying to give you redeemed information. That is why you must watch from where you get your information.

The Bible’s definition of faith is not an emotion and its definition of fear is not an emotion. This is why Jesus says, “…does not doubt in his heart, but believes…” (Mark 11:23). He did not say “in your mind” because your mind may be full of questions, but that does not mean that you doubt in your heart. God know that you are not doubting in your heart because the Bible says, “For with the heart on believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:10). It does not say, “With the heart, man tries to believe.” In other words, whatever man believes, he speaks. You believe what gets on the inside of you.

Fear is also an action because it is on the other end of faith. Fear also has a vital principle: It is not fear until you speak it. Do you understand that you can be crazy on the inside, but just like it is not faith on the inside of you, neither is fear on the inside of you, It may be anxiety, but it is not fear. I want you to understand that you can still possess the promise if you do not allow you crazy thinking to dictate what comes out of your mouth. That is why the Bible instructs you to “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). God also says: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (Proverbs 18:21).

Notes to Remember

"Fear is faith, because just like faith, fear speaks what it believes. The problem is that what fear believes is not the truth!"

"Divine Principle: Fear is faith in the wrong set of realities."
