Chapter 4 – Fight the Faith Fight

Faith is a lifestyle, not a trend or a fad. It is not something that you can do for a couple of weeks and then stop and say, “This is not working.” It is a lifestyle. You will be amazed once you begin to put the Word of God in your mouth.

An Important element of Bible Faith is found in First Timothy 6:12, which reads, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” You must understand that it is a faith fight. You and I are involved in a fight for our faith. The Scripture tells us that we are to “fight the good fight of faith.” This is the only place in the New Testament where you and I are told to fight. The fight that you and I are involved in is for our faith. We are not called to fight devils. We are not called to fight demons. We are not called to fight people. We are not called to fight brothers and sisters. We are not called to fight sin. We are called to fight the fight of faith. Literally, we are called to fight for our faith. When the Bible says in verse 12, “Fight the good fight of faith,” it is literally telling you that the fight is for your faith, and if you are going not win, then you have to maintain your faith.

Although the Bible says in Ephesians 6:12 that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers…,” it is important to note that it does not say that we fight. There is a difference between a fight and a wrestle. The writer did not say that we fight with powers and principalities. He says “we wrestle not against flesh and blood.” But again, we wrestle; we do not fight. You are not called to fight the devil. You do not have power to fight him, You do not have authority to fight him. Jesus did not give you authority to fight the devil. Jesus gave you authority to cast him out. A lot of people lose their battle with the devil because they are trying to fight him instead of casting him out. You are not graced to carry on conversations with the devil. That is why you will lose if you get into an argument with the devil.

You are not anointed to argue with the devil. You are anointed to cast him out. You cannot get into an argument with a demon and win. If a child of God gets into an argument with the devil, you know what starts happening – you start acting like a devil because he pulls you out of your anointing. So understand that you and I are not graced to argue and converse with demons. Jesus said to cast them out.

The only place that you and I are instructed to fight is in this area – for our faith. It is a faith fight. The enemy is after our faith. The enemy is not after you. You are flesh and blood. He is not really interested in sending you to hell. That is not his objective. Once you are in hell, you are no problem to him. He feels no victory by brining or taking you to hell. His objective is to neutralize your effectiveness on this planet. He is not trying to get you to hell. You are forgotten once you are in hell. You are a captive and you are not leaving and God did not send you there.

As a matter of fact, if one goes to hell, one goes there because he or she lost the fight of faith because you never confessed Jesus Christ as Lord! It never came out of your mouth that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God. You never got around to speaking your confession of faith. Your whole life Satan kept you from making that one confession and that is his objective. His objective is keeping you from making that one confession. And if you do make that one, then he works overtime, double time, triple-time to get you in some religious mausoleum where that is the only Word that you ever confess. He wants you some place where you never begin to confess the Word about overcoming or life in abundance because it is a faith fight.

Notes to Remember:

"If we are to act like God, then we are to respond to circumstances like He does - Speak His Word and change the circumstances."

"It is a faith fight."
