Chapter 2 - Faith Is a Law

Faith is a law of God. In the Book of Romans, The Bible talks about the law of faith. Just like gravity is a law, faith is a law that works for the sinner or saint alike. I will give you an example. If I, as a believer, jump off a 20-story building and an unbeliever right next to me jump off the same 20-story building at the same time, which one of us will go splat? Both of us will. Whether I am a believer or an unbeliever, the law of gravity is going to work because it is a divine law in the earth. Faith is the same way. It works for the believer or the unbeliever. It is a law, but the believer has the opportunity and the privilege to have the God-Kind of Faith.

Now this means that faith has quality – it has levels. Let me put it to you like this: There are different “brands” of faith. For example, a Dodge Omni, which is an automobile. It is a little, white, tennis shoe-looking car with four wheels, a steering wheel, seats, and a gas tank. If you fill it up, it would go putt, putt, putt wherever you directed it. It is a brand of car. Now a Bentley Rolls Royce is also an automobile.

What I want you to understand here is that the Omni and the Bentley are both automobiles, but they are different brands of automobiles. They are different levels of the same thing called a car. The Omni will get you where you want to go. The Bentley, however, gets you where you want to go in another atmosphere. The Omni has a plastic environment. The Bentley has a handcrafted leather and polished barrel-wood environment. Then Omni will get you where you want to go. However, a Bentley (With its twin-turbo, V8 engine) will get you there much faster. I want to emphasize an important point here. I am showing you two different levels of the same thing. The Bentley will get you where you need to go faster than the Omni, and that is what the God-Kind of Faith will do.

The God-Kind of Faith escalates how you get where you are going. It changes the ride, alters the atmosphere of your journey, and causes you to arrive in an entirely different style. You do not look all rumpled, torn up, and broken down when you finally arrive. I am talking about the God-Kind of Faith.

We know that faith speaks what it believes in the present tense, and that is a principle of faith. What you must understand is that you are living by faith, right now, because you are getting what you believe. The problem is you may be believing the wrong set of things. Therefore, you are speaking the wrong set of realities. When experience shows that you are a backslider, you are saying that the overcoming life is not for you, since your daily life echo’s defeat (or the experience of the Christians around you) has demonstrated that backslidden Christians never recover. That has been your experience, and because that is what you have seen, that is what you believe. And because that is what you believe, that is what you speak. Remember, faith speaks what it believes and gets what it says. You have been speaking, “Overcoming is not for me” and you have not overcome since.

Notes to Remember

"Faith is a divine law - like the law of gravity - that works for the believer or unbeliever alike. But the believer has the opportunity to have the God-Kind of Faith."
