Chapter 7 - 'In' Covenant

Secondly, He said, “It is not right for Me to take the children’s bread and give it to the dongs. The covenant people, the children, have a right to this, but if you are not in the covenant, you do not have the right.” Now remember, Old Covenant was for Israel, but there was a New Covenant coming, which was for everybody.

So this woman said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dongs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” What she actually said was, “Yes, I understand that, but there has to be a place in this covenant for me. This is so good. I see myself in this covenant. Now, I am a little ahead of my time, but I see myself in the covenant!” And Jesus says, “O woman, great is your faith!” Why? Because great faith sees itself in the covenant! Understand what the Bible says in Galatians chapter 3:

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for use (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith….And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:13-14, 29).

He is saying that if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and you now have a right to everything God promised Abraham. Christ gets you into the covenant by association. You have to be in the covenant; and once you get into the covenant, you have to get into agreement, which is with Abraham and his Seed. “Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, ‘And to seeds,’ as of many, but as of one, ‘And to your Seed,’ who is Christ” (Galatians 3:16). Get this revelation! IT is not to Abraham and his seeds: it is to Abraham and his Seed. So when God said to Abraham, “I am making this promise to you and your Seed,” He was talking about Abraham and Christ.

God’s covenant is not with each one of us. God’s covenant is with Abraham, so you have to be on the Seed o Abraham, not sees. He has a covenant with Abraham. The only people who get in on that covenant are people who have the faith of Abraham, not people who are of Abrahamic faith.

Abraham’s seed is not Abraham’s descendants. Abraham’s seed are people who have Abraham’s faith or faith like Abraham. What kind of faith did Abraham have? He had the kind of faith that heard God, obeyed God, and said what God said. So, under the Old Covenant, you have to have faith like Abraham. Under the New Covenant, you have to act like Jesus.

If you have faith like Abraham, you will benefit under the Old Covenant. If you have faith like Jesus, you benefit under the New Covenant. Thought you may be a descendant of Abraham, if you do not act like Abraham, you do not benefit from that covenant. Even if you are born again, but you do not act like Jesus, you likewise do not get in on this covenant.

Therefore, it is not just a matter of getting saved. The question is, since you’ve been saved, have you started acting like Jesus? Do you speak to situation like He did? Do you command circumstances to come into order by the Word of God, like He did? IF you do, then you will benefit from this covenant.
